Valentine's Day Weekend!

When Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday it's THE BEST! 

We had our traditional family Valentine's Dinner at home . . . 

One of my all time favorite traditions we have done for 15 years!

The girls helped create the menu this year - 

Bear got a Valentine's new toy!

Instead of making the family paper valentines this year, I found some old scrap fabric in the basement and made heart pillows filled with essential oils and rice so they can warm them up in microwave and use as heated pillows or hand warmers. They are sewn by hand - so don't look too closely at them!

Girls were starting to get sick on Saturday night and it progressed into Sunday - the really bad flu virus going around - fever and achiness. Broke my heart to see both of them feeling so crummy. Bear was a good cuddler for Kate . . .

And Sunday we somewhat celebrated my 52nd despite half of the house sick -

Can't believe this girl is 52! I still feel like I'm 32!

Life Lately . . .

 

The days are getting longer and a little warmer and we've been busy with work, school, volunteering, babysitting, basketball, tennis, homework, and of course - walking the Bear.

Molly's team won in a nail biter of a game at HOME!

Molly was voted by her teammates "MVP" as she made her free throw late in the game that may have won the game for them! Love these girls and their enthusiasm!

Kate is still asking me to braid her hair most days - and with strict instructions of "no bumps" and also "take a pix so I can see if there are any bumps" - so instead of deleting them all - thought I'd share here as I have about 57 pictures on my phone that look like this. :) #nobumps

The girls and I have been volunteering lately at the Ronald McDonals house - serving ice cream to the residents staying across the street from Children's Mercy Hospital downtown. It's been very rewarding and humbling as many parents and tiny siblings share how long they've been away from home and/or how sick they are.

Kate's team has had a rough season but they have a LOT of heart and they have a LOT OF FUN, which is what it's all about! This particular game they won and it was SO EXCITING - super close game until the very end! The crowd was going NUTS!

Molly had her sophomore retreat with Saint James - it was a 2 day, 1 night trip to Prairie Star Ranch, about an hour outside of KC. They grew in their faith and bonded as a class!!
