Trick or Treat!

 

Happy Halloween, indeed! It's always EXTRA when it falls on a weekend!!

Molly methodically planned her costume to emulate CLAUDIA from the Babysitters Club books and series. From the sunglasses to the earrings, the messy bun to the rainbow socks, the nails and the eyeliner - she nailed it!

Kate was originally planning to be a BABY . . . then WONDER WOMAN . . . .but at 4:00 p.m. today she found her old Nebraska cheerleader costume in the back of her closet and changed her mind again! She went with how she felt and I always say "Go with your gut!" She was ecstatic to play a cheerleader - especially after watching the K-state cheerleaders at the football game yesterday!

This year, Molly and some of her friends asked if they could trick or treat on their own and so we let these sweet 6th grade girls go out all on their own - with some boundary rules, of course. They were thrilled for the little bit of freedom and were home earlier than the younger kids!

Kate kept the tradition of running around with the neighborhood girls and she had a blast!

Halloween Day - All Day!

 "Boo'ing" reached an all time high this year! Not sure if it's the girls ages, or if it's because Halloween fell on the weekend or everyone is just so happy Quarantine of 2020 is over or what!? But, the girls got Boo'd LOTS! Basically friends dropping over bags of goodies and/or candy and ringing the bell and running!  

Molly + Kate got home from church Sunday morning and had the idea to Boo ALL the neighbors by foot so they quickly changed into all black and set off with bags of candy they put together!

So STEALTH.

Halloween fell on a gorgeous sunny Sunday this year 

so we had all day to anticipate!

And as tradition, we made steak soup for dinner to fill our bellies with warmth - but this year, Kate helped me make "bone" breadsticks to looks like skeleton parts!

Last Week of October Fun!

 

We cheered for our friends' at their last Cross Country meet of the season!

Lots of walks with the Bear . . . 

My garden is still producing beautiful flowers!

He never tries to eat their toys - it's really fascinating to me! 

It's like he knows they are special to them.

Kate made me breakfast in bed one morning with this sweet little note.

We were all kicked out of the kitchen - but 

I managed to snag a few pix - she's such a great baker!

I left for yoga class when this was the scene - 

And came home to this! Beautiful monster cookies she made with a 

new icing recipe she came up with!

Molly had an all day volleyball tournament on Saturday . . . last of the season.

And Kate went to the K-State homecoming football game with the Schlicks.

She had the time of her life - and some really good seats!

Love this time of year so much!! I never want to go inside!

The girls noticed 3 girls arrive late Friday night to the cabin next door to us. They decided to plan a fun scavenger hunt for them so the left the instructions Saturday afternoon for them and Sunday morning we got this note back from the girls! So proud of the creativity and fun from Molly + Kate - they made these girls' weekend!
