Cupcakes with Cousins!

Emily, Joey, Katie & Hailey brought over a pizza tonight and I made cupcakes for the girls to decorate - and we had so much fun hanging out with them! Here are a few pix of the cousins -

Molly Day!

Molly did not have Pre-K today, as it was Parent-Teacher Conferences. Kate goes to preschool only on Thursdays - so Molly and I had some time to play!  I asked her what she wanted to do and she said, "Go to your yoga with you!" - I can't even begin to describe how excited and proud this made me!!  She went to one of the hardest power vinyasa flows in Kansas City and hung on for at least a half hour - so proud of my little yogi!

Look how tiny she looks on the mat!

She picked out my yoga clothes so we would match -

After Conferences, we went out to lunch, then last stop - the library to pick out new books and for Molly to put on a Puppet Show! Love her so much - miss her on days she has preschool!

105 Days.

We have officially been in our new home 105 Days as we moved in mid-October of last year. As you know, I was quite sentimental about leaving our first family home on Clark Drive a few short months ago. Leaving the home where Mike proposed to me, our first home as newlyweds together and the home we had brought both of our newborn daughters home from the hospital was a tough thing to do.  Not to mention we had the BEST neighbors and neighborhood you could ask for.

Well, those sentimental thoughts are over. Kids have a great way of making us LIVE IN THE MOMENT. Within a week we had NEW memories in our new home -

  • Kate went poopy for the first time in the potty in this home.
  • Molly sounded out reading her first book in this home.
  • Molly learned to read the word, "but" in this home - which brought contagious laughter from both girls while lying in Molly's bed- all of us together.
  • We have had the BEST games of hide-and-seek in this home.
  • We've all 4 been sick in this home, feeling cozy and warm on the couch with warm soup.

When we first moved in last Fall, Kate was shorter than the island over-hang in our kitchen. She would run under it and hide and never thought much of it.  The other day she hit her head on it as she has GROWN in this home - and now has to duck when around the kitchen island. As much as I hated seeing her in pain, I had to smile a little, as I can now look at our kitchen and remember when Kate was small enough to hide from us.

So, it already feels like home. Yes, it might be a while (10 years?) before we have everything decorated just the way we want - but there is no hurry. A home is made up of family, love and dance parties. And we have lots of that . . .

No More Sickness!

This past week was Kate's turn to get sick. First, a nasty cold, then the stomach bug. Poor thing - but I supposed it was her turn. It's been a nasty year of sickness for kiddos here in KC - and we've been relatively lucky this winter.  Anyway, after a few days inside, it soared into the 60's and we have loved soaking up the sunshine!!

Puzzles . . .

The other day during "quiet time" Molly decided to do every
puzzle in the house - love her determination!

- August, 1976 -
I'm 2 1/2 in this photo - almost Kate's age.
I look like a mix between Molly & Kate - so crazy.
