Molly and Kate enrolled this past January in the Stage Right Summer Theatre program. As it got closer to June, it was pushed back a month, they had try-outs via Zoom, and rehearsals were conducted virtually once it finally began. Then they were able to meet in person 2 weeks from show time but wore cloth masks the whole time - no snacks and lots of sanitizer! Then, for show week they were given clear masks, and had to fit their individual microphones over the clear masks.
These kids are so resilient!
They figured out how to make the show go on and have a lot of fun doing it with zero complaints! If you want to learn how to pivot during a Pandemic, just watch our elementary age school children - they just showed how it's done! These 63 kids from across the KC metro rolled with it and were the ONLY live theatre you will see in KC this summer!
Kate made her stage debut as a Snowflake. Molly was the Chef of the Castle and part of the summer chorus. This Mama is so proud of the resilience and hard work for all these young children! Even in masks, and spaced out seating, when you are part of a standing ovation for a kids theatre production, you get chills! They also live streamed it for all the night performances. 6 performances total they did this week. So much JOY these kids have brought to all who got to see it!
Ready for Thursday's Matinee - Day #1!
Kate was nervous, but excited! Her first show!
The program was electronic this year -

Love watching her dance . . .

Lots of flowers and cards from family and friends . . .
the girls were so grateful for the love!
Lots of friends and family watched in person or from the comfort of their couch at home! We had friends texting us, watching the live stream option from 8 different states!
The Finale'!
And that's a wrap!
The girls were both teary eyed when it was over - so sad for this wonderful week to come to an end. This past month it gave them such a creative outlet to come together with kids across the metro to truly put something so creative and fun together! And with school in question, they just don't know when they will get to do something like this again! So happy for them that they had this opportunity!
