Time Standing Still . . .

I always dreamed of freezing time with these girls - guess in some way, that's what this is for us right now. More time. More time to enjoy the long walks. More time to linger around the table after dinner. More time for the deep conversations. More time to be kind and serve others.
More time to be in the moment.

More time to spend with my tween (below) who is growing way too fast and is so kind and creative and has all the deep thoughts and questions right now. These are the days . . .

Days 8-14 of Quarantine

We had another week of play and fun as Home School doesn't officially start until tomorrow!
They extended our Spring Break another week so teachers would have time to get lessons
prepared for students and parents. God bless our hard working teachers!!

Trying to support our local businesses as much as we can from home right now so they can stay afloat during this tough time. I quickly ordered spring flowers and soil from our local nursery to pick up (carpool line style) last Sunday!

Oh how the smell of a nursery just makes me happy!

This trunk view makes me GIDDY. Picked up some fertilizer for the lawn too...

Grandpa Pat has been sending the girls creative writing assignments
and rewards them $1 per page -
Kate made friendship bracelets for her big sis . . .

And a special bracelet for Grandma JoJo

We took a social distance walk to the new Meadowbrook Inn that will be opening soon just a mile from our house - inside our new park.

We are most excited about the ice-cream shop we can walk to when it opens!

They are so fast on their scooters these days - I have to run to catch up!

Walked by church to see this sign up. Even though we know we are all doing virtual mass these days with the Corona Virus Quarantine - it still feels surreal to see a sign up at our church Do Not Enter. The church, to me, has always been a safe place I can go anytime day or night.

Both girls have been writing "invisible ink" letters to each other and to their friends . . .

Lots of puzzles and games, and home-made scavenger hunts for one another -

We made window clings to share with the neighbors walking by . . .

Love Molly's food ones . . .

By Day 12, Kate has this to say -

Perfect occasion to use our "Superhero Wrist Walkie Talkies"

This cardinal keeps coming to my kitchen window every day and makes me think Gramps is checking on me to see how we are doing.

LOTS of walks/scooters/bike rides for fresh air ...

Came across some of their friends on our walk - so they did a few
"6 feet apart" races on their scooters!

We LOVE the Mo Willams daily YouTube tutorials . . .
These are Molly's creations . . .

We pulled a prank on Dad after work one night . . .
"Dad, the toilet is smoking!!"

We got acclimated to our new reality for the classrooms going forward next week . . .

Kate's first Zoom Call with her teacher and classmates -

We've been making LOTS of smoothies for lunch - My "usual" has been what I like to call the "Quarantine Smoothie", which is basically everything still in the fridge that is about to go bad, blended all together!

I introduced CLUE to Molly, my favorite game as a kid and she
is a big fan now too . . .

Inspired, Molly created her own board game with a rule book and pieces, etc. It was beyond impressive!!! She taught it to us the same day she created it.

We cranked the music in the driveway super loud for a "Greatest Showman" circus performance. (Sorry, neighbors) Kate is the "lasso girl", of course.

Molly and Kate helped me clean the deck and furniture for Spring!

Saturday night - family movie night and we
drew Kate's pick this week - Lady & the Tramp!

Piano homework on the chalkboard -

Thursday, March 26

A Beautiful Day.

Wednesday was a gorgeous day for planting and playing outside ALL DAY LONG!

Mike and the girls did some chalk art on the driveway to spread some happiness to the 'hood! Everyone has been out walking around, since it's really all you can do - and we all wave from our driveways to the street and shout pleasantries - of course, always at least 6 feet apart. The children in the neighborhood have all been decorating with chalk for others to enjoy!

Dirt under my nails makes me happy.

My favorite one, from the girls.
